چکیده
The objective of the study was to estimate the normal upper and lower limit cut-off value of the different dimensions of maxillary and frontal sinuses, and also to determine the influence of gender on the obtained variables and to observe the effect of nasal septal deviation on maxillary sinus. The observational study was carried out and a total of 60 samples were collected from both males and females with the age group range from 20-50 years. Different dimensions of maxillary and frontal sinuses were measured and the volume was calculated. The mean of all the measured parameters in right and left maxillary sinus and frontal sinus shows the higher value in males as compared to females. The volumes of maxillary and frontal sinuses of both sides were significantly greater in males than females. All the measured dimensions were larger in males and also the volume of maxillary sinus was found to be larger in males. This study also showed that there was no effect of nasal septal deviation on the volume of maxillary sinus.

The relation between frontal sinus dimension and maxillary and mandibular prognathism/retrognathism among Iranian youth and adults
Abstract Introduction: Estimating the appropriate time for orthodontic treatment is a crucial factor. Given the earlier maturation of sinuses rather than maxillomandibular growth, finding the exact relationship between the growth of the jaws and frontal sinuses is considered to be a helpful element in Orthodontic treatment. Materials and Methods: This is a descriptive-analytical study, conduc...
متن کاملAge Differences of Human Frontal Sinus Measurements using CT Scan
Background and Objectives: The frontal sinus is regarded as one of the human paranasal sinuses located in the frontal bone as a triangular-shaped cavity, which originates as separated space from the anterior ethmoid cells. Computed Tomography (CT) is a completely non-destructive technique that uses a high density of contrast to identify the air inside any bony sinus with soft tissue demarcated ...

BACKGROUND AND AIM: This study aimed to assess maxillary sinus floor membrane thickness and ostium patency (OP) in patients undergoing cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) evaluation for implant placement in the posterior maxilla. Mucosal thickening (MT) could be cause of post-operative complications in implant procedures; awareness of this incidence could help proper detection and further succ...
متن کاملRelationship between Anatomical Variations of Sinonasal Area and Maxillary Sinus Pneumatization
Introduction: Maxillary sinuses are among the largest paranasal sinuses with various shapes and volumes. The dimensions and volumes of maxillary sinuses play an important role in the surgical treatment plan. The higher levels of pneumatization of alveolar bone lead to the increase of odontogenic sinusitis which cause problems in dental implantation. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate...

Background and Objectives The topography of the sinus floor and its relationship with maxillary teeth roots varies with age, pneumatization size and grade, positioning of the teeth, and Genetics. This study used cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) to evaluate the distance between posterior teeth and the maxillary sinus floor in patients in Rafsanjan City, Iran.
